The Story
How a marketing agency discovered a better way
Mega Donkey started life as Wear Cape, a traditional marketing agency founded in 2019. We did what agencies do — we connected brands with influencers, managed campaigns, and collected our retainer.
But we kept noticing something that didn't add up.
Our clients were spending thousands on celebrity endorsements and mega-influencers with millions of followers. The content looked great. The reach numbers were impressive. But the results? Often disappointing.
Meanwhile, the brands seeing real traction weren't chasing fame — they were quietly working with dozens of smaller creators whose audiences actually listened.
The data was clear: micro-influencers with 1,000-10,000 followers consistently deliver 3-5x the engagement rates of their celebrity counterparts. Not because they're better at content — because their audiences actually trust them. They're not celebrities. They're peers.
So we asked the obvious question: if micro-influencers deliver better results, why isn't everyone using them?
The answer was equally obvious: scale is a nightmare.
Managing one mega-influencer is straightforward. Managing fifty micro-influencers means fifty DMs, fifty shipping addresses, fifty content approvals, fifty invoices, and one very overwhelmed marketing manager drowning in spreadsheets.
That operational chaos is what keeps brands stuck in the old model — paying more for less, simply because it's easier.
In 2026, we stopped being an agency and built the platform we wished existed.
Mega Donkey was born.
